Jump Desktop supports multiple methods of connecting to your PC. The easiest way to connect is by using a Google account as outlined in the Getting Started Guide. If however, your work place blocks Google connections or you do not want to use a Google login you can always connect directly using just a host name or IP address. Here is how you do this:

  1. Open Jump on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch and tap the + button in the top right hand corner of the screen.
  2. In the Host field type in the host or IP address to connect to.
  3.  Press Done and go back to the main Jump screen.
  4. Tap your PC's name to connect.

Connecting to your work computer

You can use the above method if you already connect to your work computer using the Windows Remote Desktop Connection program. The Computer field in Remote Desktop Connection is the same as the Host field in Jump. Follow the above steps and put the same value in Jump's Host field to connect.

You can also use the built-in iPad / iPhone / iPod Touch VPN in case your company requires you to VPN into the corporate network before connecting. Simply connect to the VPN before starting Jump Desktop.

Connecting over a local wireless network

Connecting directly to your computer on your home or work wireless network is easy too. First we need to get the IP address of the PC you want to connect to:

  1. On your PC, click Start and then click Run. Type cmd.exe in the text box and press enter.
  2. In the black window enter ipconfig and press Enter.
  3. Your IP address will be the one which starts with IP Address or IPv4 Address . You may have multiple addresses, in which case try one address at a time.

Once you have the IP address, follow the steps at the top of the page to configure Jump. Please note: using this method, your PC will not be accessible outside your local wireless network. Also, there may be times where your anti-virus or firewall may block incoming connections to your PC - in which case, try to temporarily disable the firewall and try (but don't forget to re-enable it after you've isolated the problem!).
