Mac: OS X Lion Compatibility

Jump Desktop Support

For best compatibility with OS X Lion make sure you're running the latest version of Jump:

Thats all you really need.  If you still have trouble logging in, please open up a support ticket by sending mail to: support@jumpdesktop.com

Multimon configurations:

Lion's VNC server has a known issue on muti monitor configurations.  The mouse pointer may not point to the correct place on multiple monitor configurations where the primary monitor is NOT the left most monitor. To workaround this open up the Displays preferences and make sure the primary monitor is set to be the left most monitor in the configuration. We've alerted Apple to this problem and are hoping that they'll fix this in a future Lion update.

Update: OS X Lion 10.7.3 has fixed the multmon issue.

Login screen:

There is a known issue with OS X Lion 10.7 GM Seed's VNC server. Lion's login screen may appear to stop responding when connecting via Mac's VNC Server. We've investigated this issue and it seems to be a problem with OS X Lion itself. To work around this we've changed the default authentication mechanism in Jump 4.0.3 and later. Jump will now ask for your Mac Credentials instead of the VNC password. Authenticating with your Mac credentials takes you straight to your desktop skipping the buggy login screen. We've also added a configurable setting in Jump incase you want to revert back to the old, VNC password based authentication scheme. The setting can be found in the auth setting field for a VNC server. Setting this to vnc password should revert Jump back to the old behavior.

@Stanley There was a known issue with Lion and screen updates freezing in Jump Desktop 4.0.4. We released 4.0.5 on 16th of August that should have fixed this issue. Please make sure you've updated to 4.0.5 and if it still doesn't work open up a new ticket by emailing: support@jumpdesktop.com   . We'd like to reproduce this issue on our end.

Can somebody please explain why this Multi-monitor support issue in 10.7 Lion continues to be a problem?  It's been 4 months...  Is it really that hard to fix this?   The compatibility notes says just switch the monitors around, but seriously?  My main monitor is on the right, not the left and switching that around is not practical.  Remembering to make the switch in control panel every time I leave the computer and when i might use Jump Desktop just isn't practical also.

Please guys, fix this!  Jump Desktop is un-usable otherwise.

@Scott - Jump relies on Apple's VNC server for remote desktop and unfortunately Lion's implementation of the VNC server is (still) buggy. We've raised this issue with Apple and are hoping they'll eventually release a fix. That said, you're right it's super painful to keep switching around configs. We're working on a solution for this right now. If you'd like to help beta test the fix send support@jumpdesktop.com a mail. It's not an ideal solution, but it'll help ease the pain.

(Dec 12th): We have a fix for this. If you're still hit this issue just mail support@jumdpesktop.com and we'll send over the fix.

I am running lion (latest version- Dec12 2012) for a macbook pro and the latest os for my ipad 1.  Works great on my lan quickly connecting to all computers including windows and ubuntu. Yet when I try and connect using 3G  and only to my main computer the macbook pro - it will continually ask me for my google email password.  Every time I enter the password the same window comes up and again asks for the email password?

Before I leave the house I double check that the jump desktop sign in is complete on the macbook pro.  I disconnect and then re-connect and make sure the diagnostics works by re-applying it? But none of these solutions works between my macbook pro and ipad.  Is this a common experience or just something wrong with configuration on my machines? I wrote to jump desktop over week ago and still have not heard from them? Is someone reading this? Thank Marie

Jan-03 12:12 (PST):

Hi,

Everything was working beautifully last week. Then this week, inexplicably I'm suddenly unable to login to my gmail account with Jump. I've verified that everything is working with gmail and my network and uploaded diagnostics data to Jump through the desktop app. Every time I try to login by entering my gmail account and password, simply nothing happens and the app remains grey in my menu bar.

The OS X 10.7.3 update seems to fix the multimonitor issue in Lion.
