You're seeing this error message because Jump has trouble connecting to Google's servers. Follow the steps below to help diagnose the problem:

  1. A common reason for this error are transient networking issues. Make sure your internet connection is working properly and try connecting again. (Tip: Jump will automatically reconnect after a minute if it gets disconnect from the internet at anytime). Move to the next step if you're sure your internet connection is working properly and you still can't connect.
  2. Try opening the following web page on your PC's web browser: https://talk.google.com . If this page loads correctly (i.e. if you don't see any errors in your web browser), move to the next step. If this page fails to load on your web browser then it might mean that Google's servers are blocked on your current network. This usually happens if the system administrator on your network has explicitly blocked access to Google. You might need to speak to your system administrator about unblocking https://talk.google.com or you might want to switch your computer to another network that doesn't block Google's servers.
  3. If you can open up the the page in step #2: Check your computer's clock and make sure it's set to the correct date. The clock is usually in the lower right hand corner of your desktop. Incorrect dates on the system clock cause problems when connecting to Google's servers. If you're already checked and made sure the date is correct, move to the next step.
  4. Make sure Jump Desktop is set to automatically discover a proxy server: Click Start -> Programs -> Jump Desktop -> Jump Desktop -> Options -> Advanced Options. Then in the Proxy section make sure Type is set to Auto. Once you've done this try connecting again.  If this doesn't work, move to the next step.
  5. Third party security or firewall software (like AVG, Norton, Mcafee, ZoneAlarm etc) sometimes block connections from programs they don't know about. Open up your security software and make sure the following files are allowed to create network connections and / or are on the 'Safe' programs list: JumpService.exe, JumpDesktop.exe.
  6. If the suggestions above still don't help, please contact support by emailing: support@jumpdesktop.com

@Jason The error code 10013 maps to "Permission Denied". The most likely reason you're seeing this error message is because some 3rd party security or firewall software running on your system is blocking Jump from creating outgoing network connections.

We've usually seen this with third party anti-virus software - specially expired anti-virus software. Try this: Temporarily disable your anti-virus or firewall software and then try to connect again. Be sure to turn your security software back on once you're done testing connectivity.

Also, expired versions of some anti-virus software may also cause this error to be displayed. In this case it isn't enough ti simply turn off the software, instead you might need to uninstall it all together (this has helped atleast one other person).
