Installation: Service 'Jump Desktop Service' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start the service.

Windows XP, Server 2003 and Windows Vista users may see an error message towards the end of the installation that says:

Service 'Jump Desktop Service' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start the service.


Windows XP and Windows Server 2003


This may happen when the .NET Framework installation on your machine is corrupt. Follow the instructions below to fix this issue.
To fix this we'll first uninstall all versions of .NET Framework from your PC and then install .NET Framework v2.0 from Microsoft's website.

  1. Open up the Control Panel and then double click Add / Remove Programs
  2. Uninstall all versions of the .NET Framework. You may have multiple versions of .NET Framework installed on your PC please make sure you remove all versions (2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0).
  3. Restart your PC.
  4. Next download and install .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 from Microsoft's website here: .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 32bit download link

Once installation is complete try re-running the Jump Desktop installer.

 

Windows 2000 and Windows Vista Users

This error is shown when a component needed by Jump Desktop is missing from your system. Follow the steps below to fix this issue: 

1) Download and install the Visual C++ Run-time package using the following link: Visual C++ Runtime Download Page. 

  • Click the Download button on the page
  • Run the downloaded file and wait for installation to finish

2) Re-run the Jump Desktop Installer.
