There is no right click drag? that would be very helpful for the software I use and Windows in general. A great addition would be a small mouse icon on the screen and you could use that instead of the circle (obviously with an option to go between the two).

@James: Can you please open up a support ticket? This might be related to a VNC server issue we're currently tracking. Also, if anyone else sees a similar problem please open up a ticket by emailing support@jumpdesktop.com

@Mark: No right click drag at this point. We'll add this in a future update - along with middle button drag.

Hi, i connected my iPhone 4 to my laptop with no problems. This is using a gmail account. All I would like to know is: How do I connect and use my iPhone and see everything change on the laptop?

Because everytime I connect on the phone the Laptop locks. Do I need to change a setting?

    Thank you

@Hennie, you need to enable Jump's 'screen sharing' mode. Try re-running the Configuration Wizard:

    1. On your PC click: Start -> Jump Desktop -> Jump Desktop
    2. Click the Options link and then click Configuration Wizard
    3. When the Configuration Wizard pops up be sure to select the 'Remote Desktop (VNC)' option
    4. Follow the wizard steps to completion
    5. Once you're done you'll see a new connection appear for your computer on your iPad and iPhone with 'vnc' in the name.
    6. Tap it to connect and you should be able to see your screen without locking your laptop screen.

You guys have the best app, especially the keyboard input. But what you lack is a track pad mode. Spend a few minutes with the Desktop Connect app and you will see what I mean. Having to keep your finger in the little blue circle is kinda rediculous, and there is no need for it, as the other app shows. I still use your app because I need to type, but but every time I have to reach for the circle, I am reminded of how it could be better.

@JC Thanks for the suggestion - we'll look into trackpad mode (we know exactly what you're talking about). Thought, I'd like to clarify the current mouse implementation though: You don't need to keep your finger inside the circle to control the mouse - the mouse follows your taps and unlike trackpad mode, you can tap directly at the screen element you want to manipulate (i.e tapping a button or dragging an icon). Incase you haven't already take a look at this short video to see how to control the mouse with Jump Desktop: http://support.jumpdesktop.com/entries/156806 .

I love your app, but I have a suggestion.  It would be great if you could add functionality to allow a user to use their iPhone (connected to their iPad via Bluetooth) as a trackpad.  Check out the Citrix Receiver app - this function is really helpful.  I'd love to see that functionality in Jump Desktop as well!  Cheers

@Will Thanks for the suggestion - this is a common suggestion. We're making some infrastructure changes in our code that'll allow us to implement this feature in a future release. Please hang on.

I have a suggestion, it would be nice to be able to use the IPad/IPhone camera as a barcode reader as another form of keyboard?

Suggestion, I want to use trackpad mode not only on iPhone but also on iPad in the video out mode. I'm using video out for larger screen. When I use Jump app with video out mode, I have to find a small circle on iPad. In the case of iPhone, there is trackpad mode. It's perfect! Why not iPad? PLZ make it possible on iPad.

@Carlos - this is a really, really specific scenario. So far you're the only one who's asked for this. We'd need a few more people to request this feature before we can actually do this.

@Seonghoon - Thanks for the suggestion. Look for this in the next update (right now the current version is 4.0.5 - you'll see this in our next release major release).

Can we please have the Input Choices That are offered in the IPAD App for the IPHONE and Android App? Pretty Please?

    @Clifford - we'll look into this.

@Simon - Added to our Android todo list. Is there a specific input method you want to see on? Is it the pen / stylus input method?

@ Jump Desktop Support - Specificall the Pen type input method .. I am using this to control Volume faders in some software that turns volumes um and down in venues. In Pen input mode in the Ipad, this works perfectly, just touch and drag. Would love this input option in the Android and Iphone app

Is there any way to get at all the three finger if not also the four finger lion gestures on the iPad VNC?  App switching, launchpad, etc.

Also horizontal scrolling doesnt seem to work (two fingers sideways).. it only scrolls vertically (mouse wheel)

Is there the option to hide the mouse cursor in the IPHONE version?

  • Avatar
    Jump Desktop Support

@Simon - the iPhone version has an option to hide the circle underneath the mouse, not the mouse pointer.

    Simon Coates

Damn, I need full touch control like in the Ipad app , No mouse, pointer and just pure touch control

  • Avatar
    Jump Desktop Support

@Simon - it's actually exactly like the iPad's 'Pen mode' - the only difference is you can see the mouse pointer.

Is it much programming to pass the option to disable it?

  • Avatar
    Jump Desktop Support

(Fixed the spelling mistake for you)

We'll add it to the feature list. Though, it'll only hide the mouse cursor and not actually effect any functionality. Are you sure you're not expecting different functionality?

Just found a PC application that will hide the Mouse pointer, so hopefully this will sort what I need in the interim

using iPad and Jump Desktop to RDP into my MacBook.  MacBook has OpenVPN (not available for iOS) which is needed to link into work server.  Jump works great except right click feature.  When running an application like GE's Centricity, the right click gestures flash the blue ring (from a double tap or long hold) but it does not perform the right click function.

Anyway you could just add a button to the top (maybe in place of one of the two keyboard buttons) to perform right click function?

Hi, I have found that Siri Dictation does not work with your app, but it does with iTap application.  Copy Paste is enabled in my settings, let me know if there is some secret way to enable that feature.  If I open a text doc on RDP server, and open the keyboard, and use the Mic button, no text is passed to the text box.  Thanks

    Jump Desktop Support

@Rob When connecting to Macs Jump sends a Ctrl+Left click for a right click. It seems like GE's Centricity doesn't support Ctrl+Left click. We'll add an option in the next update that lets you send true right clicks to Macs.

@Clifford - Siri dictation not working - this is a known issue with Jump 4.0.6. This should be fixed in our next update (we already have it working in our beta releases). Please hang on for the fix.

Hi there - awesome product for me so far.  But it would be very useful and far more easy to control, if it'd be possible to scroll horizontally left and right (with two finger swipe).  Thanks.
