Is there a way for Jump Desktop to connect from iPad to MacBook without the Mac or both devices connected to any sort of WiFi network but both have Wifi turned on? (and maybe connected like with Wifi Direct?)

I would like to be able to connect my iPad to my Mac while outside, and it would be inconvenient to open up my MacBook and Switch Wifi networks, but I can keep it awake with the Amphetamine app before going outside. When Amphetamine is on, my MacBook lid is closed and connected to Wifi, my Jump Desktop works on the iPad and controls my Mac.

I want it so that the Mac doesn't need to be connected to a Wifi network but is nearby the iPad for a direct connection. I imagine that it could be done with Wifi direct. I've tested that Mac's sidecar feature works without being connected to a wifi network but has wifi on, and nearby an iPad.
