Connecting to my laptop???

I am able to connect to my laptop with my iphone and ipad when i am by it at work, but from my house i am unable to connect to it, and i am able to connect to our office server from home with no problems. Can anyone help??

  Can you please tell me the error message you see when you're trying to connect?
