Right click with 2 fingers not working

How exactly does the 2 finger tap work for right click?  I've tried clicking with 2 fingers on the item and it didn't work and 1 finger on the item and one off and it didn't work and selecting the item first and then 2 fingers, etc.   It does a right click if I long press, but the other method seems like it could be faster.

  @Michael a two finger tap should send a right click to where the mouse pointer is currently pointing, not where you're tapping.

  I verified that this does not work on my Nexus 4 phone or Asus Transformer tablet.  The 3 finger gesture to bring up the keyboard does not work either.
