RDP vs. VNC

RDP vs. VNC. What are the differences in end user experience between the two connectivity options? All I found on the Jump support site is that RDP has sound.

KEY: If both boxes are on the same WAN will the two protocols have the same response times and speed?

My two Windows PCs, 7 & 8.1, will only connect with VNC. So I would like to know if fixing the RDP problem would be worthwhile.
