rdp won't connect with my credentials

Every time I attempt to connect with RDP I get the message: Your credentials did not work Please enter new credentials. I have made certain the remote desktop is clicked in the settings and have confirmed my password and login...I can only log in with VNC. It's a windows 7 professional computer.
