When using Jump Desktop on an iPad, the lock screen on the Mac automatically appears.
Dear Jump Desktop Support Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
I have been a long-time user of your Jump Desktop application. After a period of inactivity, I recently attempted to use it again and encountered an issue for which I am seeking assistance.
This matter is of great importance to me, and I would appreciate a prompt response.
Current Environment:
-
MacBook Pro 16" (Intel i9 CPU)
- macOS 15.1
-
iPad Pro 12.9" M2 Model
- iPadOS 18.1
Issue Description:
When attempting to connect remotely from my iPad to my MacBook, the MacBook's lock screen appears. After entering the password to access the main screen and beginning to work, the MacBook automatically returns to the lock screen.
Previously, I used the application without any issues. Considering that the macOS version might have been updated, I reinstalled the Jump Desktop Connect program on the MacBook, rechecked the permissions, and also reinstalled the Jump Desktop app on the iPad. However, the problem persists.
Notably, when I slightly open the MacBook's screen, this issue does not occur.
While using it this way doesn't cause immediate problems, I am concerned that keeping the MacBook's screen slightly open might reduce its lifespan.
Is there a method to control the MacBook so that it operates correctly with the screen closed, as it did before?
If you have any insights or solutions, please let me know.
For your reference, I am not using any power management programs such as sleep mode or hibernation.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Hi, Thank you for reaching out to us.
Are you trying to connect to a Mac that’s in Clamshell mode (with the lid closed)? Currently, the official version of Jump Desktop for iOS doesn’t support this setup. We suggest using Jump’s Privacy Mode and either attaching an external display in Clamshell mode or keeping the Mac open.
Alternatively, you can try the beta version of Jump Desktop for iOS, which includes Virtual Display support. This should allow you to connect with the screen closed. After updating to the beta, simply enable Jump Virtual Display and try connecting to the Mac again.
Here’s the link to enroll your iOS device in the beta: https://testflight.apple.com/join/PT4ZWw0g
Thanks
