Cut and Paste Clipboard from macOS to Linux over VNC

I have clipboard enabled in my jumpdesktop VNC configuration but I can't get cut and paste to work. In the Jump Desktop client, all the cut, copy and paste are greyed out. I have tried option-v and command-v, neither have any effect.  I'm running tightvnc on the ubuntu host.

 

What am I missing?

  I haven't totally figured it out, but it seems cut and paste works in some apps. Specifically not the two terminals I've tried.
