Just started using the beta client for iPadOS
I just started using the beta client for iPadOS. It has resolved a couple of the major pain-points I wrote about in various places, namely:
- Direct connection is not being made. This was now possible to debug with the new Connection Stats option in the Beta. It's really nice to be able to know what's happening with your connection.
- Virtual Display is pretty much perfect. This is what I was looking for in a Remote Desktop solution. It's a shame this is only available in beta. It completely changes the experience. With this enabled, the dimensions of your iPad or even the connected external display (connected to iPad) are used as the dimensions for the remote operating system. It's really the closest experience to actually being on the remote computer itself (almost as good as Apple's native Screen Sharing, which they hide inside of iMessage and Facetime, but of course they don't expose this to iPadOS, so currently Jump is the best I've tried). This properly utilizes the dimensions of your client device. Jump really needs to update their public client with all these beta features. I was so close to getting a refund, but beta saved it.

In addition to jumping on the beta client for iPadOS, I also jumped on the Enterprise Teams trial, because I wanted to try some of the extra features to see if they're worth it. However, there are a few things that don't seem to work:
- Setting the "Color" quality does nothing. No matter what setting I put it to, the client still connects over the "Good" 4:2:0 8bit color profile. I tried "Ultra" and the entire screen was just some abstract color painting with nothing legible on screen. I tried the others, and they never took hold, so they just continued to show the "Good" color profile.
- Despite using Enterprise Teams, the beta client still caps out at 20Mbps for its configuration options. Enterprise Teams is supposed to cap out at 60Mbps. The options do not go any higher. Maybe it's happening, but the "Maximim Bandwidth" setting does not reflect the options available to Enterprise Teams.
- Passwordless logins does not seem to work. Every time I connect to my MacOS computer I am faced with the login screen where I then need to type in my password.
