Why is VoiceOver Speech No Longer Transmitted During Remote Mac Sessions?
Hello,
I’ve been using Jump Desktop since 2023 to remotely access my Mac Studio from my MacBook Air, and it has been a fantastic tool. As a blind user, I rely on the built-in VoiceOver screen reader to navigate my system, including during remote sessions.
Until recently, Jump Desktop worked perfectly for this purpose. However, since February, I’ve encountered a serious issue: VoiceOver speech no longer comes through during remote connections. Other audio, such as VoiceOver’s navigation sounds (like clicks), still transmits correctly — just not the speech itself.
To further test this, I enabled "Speak Selection" under System Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content. When activating it remotely, I noticed the system behaves as if it’s speaking — the audio stream resumes mid-sentence once I disconnect. This strongly suggests the speech is being generated locally but not captured or transmitted through Jump.
This issue effectively makes Jump unusable for me, as I can no longer hear any spoken feedback when accessing my Mac remotely. It had been working reliably before, including on early versions of macOS Sequoia, so I’m hopeful this can be resolved.
Is this a known issue, or is there a workaround I should try?
Thank you for looking into this.
