Intermittent Key Conversions
I'm using the trial version of Jump Desktop from Mac to Windows as a possible replacement for the Microsoft RDP app. I've added three additional Key Conversions (cmnd-D > ctrl-D, cmnd-L > ctrl-L, cmnd-R > ctrl-R).
These work for the first few minutes of the remote session, but then just stop working. Also, I seem to get the "you pressed the Windows key" Start Menu showing up about 25% of the time when using any of the Key Conversions.
Do the Key Conversions in Jump Desktop work reliably, or is it more of the "kind of, sort of" experience that I'm having? I wanted to replace the RDP app because of the keyboard mapping issues, but it seems that Jump Desktop isn't much better in this regard.
Thanks,
James

Hi,
Thanks for the detailed feedback!
To help us narrow this down, could you let us know what type of keyboard you’re using on your Mac?
Also, are you switching the keyboard language layout on the local Mac while connected to the remote Windows machine when the issue occurs?
If so, please make sure the keyboard language layout on your Mac matches the layout on the Windows host.
Thank you -
I removed the Key Conversions, quit Jump Start, and then launched it again. I then added the Key Conversions again and they did not work at all.
Then I deleted Jump Start and its support files in ~/Library and /Library. I downloaded it again and launched it.
I added four Key Conversions:
- cmnd-D > ctrl-D
- cmnd-L > ctrl-L
- cmnd-R > ctrl-R
- cmnd-/ > ctrl-/
The last three seem to work consistently, but cmnd-D > ctrl-D never works (it did intermittently in my first go round last week).
I tried the cmnd-D with several different applications open on the destination Windows server, but it never triggered ctrl-D in any of them. When I use ctrl-D in Jump Start the Windows applications all respond as expected.

Just an FYI - my trial period expired and I purchased a license. After applying the license I removed and re-added the four Key Conversions.
With a license all four of the Key Conversions work. Does the trail limit some features? I almost didn't purchase the license because the product did not meet all of my needs and did not seem complete/stable.
If some features are limited during the trial period, that should be clearly conveyed to potential buyer so we know what to expect. I spent hours testing other products, which I would not have done if I knew that the Jump Desktop trial limited some functionality. I simply would have purchased the license sooner so I would not have to deal with the frustrations.
