trouble connecting

Trying to connect from my mac to my windows laptop and getting this error There was an error connecting to the computer. Error Code: 2.1 (0x1).

  I ended up solving this error by recreating the connection. I had changed something on the server that made the exiting connection invalid. It must save some saved parameter in the connection it no longer liked.
