Can we change the idle time?
I use Jump Desktop all day for work and would love to set a longer idle time. Is that possible?

Hi Christine,
Generally once connected you're connected your session should remain active throughout the date. The only exception to this is on iOS (iPad and iPhone) which forces a maximum 10 minute limit when you multi-task away for Jump. After 10 minutes in the background Jump is forced to terminate the current. In our next update we've added a new feature which remembers the last session you were connected to and automatically reconnects to it as soon as you start up.
Let me know which platform you're thinking about.

I have a problem that is similar to Maurice's. While actively using the RDP session, for example, while typing an email, the remote computer stops accepting input while Jump continues to let me move the cursor around for example. eventually I receive a message that "Remote Desktop has closed. The computer has closed the remote connection." I had this problem once before but cannot remember what I did to resolve it. Any suggestions? Thank you! -
I’ve been using Jump Desktop on a 2020 iPad Pro to connect via the Fluid protocol to a 2020 MacBook Pro — both with the latest versions of the relevant Jump app and operating system. It seems like when leaving the Jump Desktop app on iPadOS and then returning to it after only 1 (one) minute requires an auto-reconnect of the session. Is that expected? This happens even when no other apps are open in the background, so it’s not due to the iPadOS quitting the app to free up memory.
Is there a way to increase this idle timeout limit?

I have started to use Jump Desktop with Fluid protocol on 2021 iPad Pro. I can confirm that after 1 minute in the background, Jump Desktop has to reconnect and it is very annoying. I have used two terminal apps on iPad, termius and blink shell, and they both mitigate this background disconnect problem very well by enabling location services. Here is the relevant bit from termius documentation: https://docs.termius.com/faq/troubleshooting/cant-run-in-the-background
Could a similar feature be implemented for Jump Desktop? I really love the app and this would be a great addition. -
Hi guys,
> "and they both mitigate this background disconnect problem very well by enabling location services"
Unfortunately this not allowed by App Store's policies - at-least in the context of our app since we don't have any use for location services. With that said - we'll check with Apple developer support one more time to see if they will be okay with us using it.
Also - one way to make sure Jump keeps running in the background _right now_ is to stream audio over the connection. So if you have some really low volume audio playing on the remote machine, Jump will stream the audio. In this case, we've notcied that iOS will make sure the app keeps running in the background for as long as possible while audio is being streamed.

This is the biggest caveat we have working as developer / sysadmin on iPadPro. Drives me insane.
I am aware those are pointless restrictions from Apple but I as well use Termius where location service is used to keep the connection alive. I need something like this for Jump as well. It's super frustrating working on multiple servers and they keep getting disconnected.
I hate Apple for this but I have hope you can find a way to get this somehow working. Location services is not allowed you say, well, there is a reason for everything why it needs to be used. But it means the world to have persistent connections when working.
Finger's crossed you can make it.
