External Screen
Hello,
On Ipad Pro 2018, is it possible to use extended desktop with a an external monitor on USB C.
If not, is it on your plan for next release ?
Thanks
Frédéric

@Tiago « Cool, happy to help :)
And don’t forget; with iOS 13 comes global mouse support for “any” pointing device (enabled as an “assistive device”)!
Ah, yes you mentioned the iPad consideration. I’m pretty sure Apple will let you return the iPad, too, if you change your mind. At least in DK and the US...
I have a Wintendo laptop from work sitting on a shelf next to the router, acting as the Jump RDP server - haven’t brought it out of the appartment since they gave it to me :D
Sorry, I don’t know about data consumption as I’m too cheap to pay the monthly fee for an extra eSIM for the iPad so using the iPhone as a hot spot :oP

@Rune you can't see the data usage inside iPhone? My use case will be using Jump Desktop with mobile data (using phone hotspot too), but my monthly maximum is 5gb mobile data, for the 20% of the time I will use it might be enough :)
Yes iOS 13 or iPad OS is also another reason I'm considering this, iPad is becoming a real laptop replacement, with USB-C ports and mouse accessibility even more, + RDP to my desktop = best combo :D

I have a 4K Monitor plugged in using an Anker hub to my iPad Air. My only complaint about this otherwise superb implementation is that the video output is limited to 1440p, even though the Anker 8-in-1 hub supports 4K @ 60 Hz. Is this because the display is being mirrored and is thus limited to iPad resolutions? Is there any possibility of ever getting native 4K Remote Desktop on an external monitor? Or is this an Apple limitation?

The split screen thing is an iOS limitation; it appears only active apps can cast to external screens, and I doubt inactive apps will ever be able to receive input anyway...
With regards to > 1440p support, it does not seem like there's a fix coming - the closest to a mentioning is this in the iOS update log, mentioning 8000+ pixels wide screens:

9.2.6
This release adds support for using the mouse scroll wheel when using a generic external mouse with Jump. We've also redesigned the top toolbar button with a more compact pill shape. Finally, we've fixed a bunch of bugs.
Notable fixes in this release:
* Turn off Smart Touch Gestures by default. If you want to re-enable it open up Settings -> Mouse & Gestures -> Smart Touch Gestures.
* Can not show the toolbar on iPadOS when in split view mode
* Make sure audio mixes with the system audio
* Remote resolution is not correctly set when reconnecting to connections
* Reconnecting to automatic connections may take a long time when the app is brought to the foreground
* Crash when showing extremely big displays (8000+ pixel width) on older devices

Randy « Definitely not an Apple limitation since other apps can cast 4k content. Don't know why Jump doesn't work correctly with our devices and apparently, the devs don't either (last I spoke with them several years ago they didn't appear to have a 4k device for testing anyway:)...
