Jump Desktop now supports remote printing for RDP connections. With remote printing you can print a document on your PC and have the printout sent to your iPad, iPhone, Mac or Android device for printing. For example, lets say you're away from your office and urgently need a printout of a Word document on your office computer. You connect to computer using Jump, open up Word and simply print the document. The printout will be automatically forwarded to your device where you'll be able to print it out using iOS's AirPrint feature or your Mac's default printer. If you're on Android the printout will be sent to your device as an XPS file which you can email to yourself or open up in an XPS viewer app on the device. This works with any application or document on your computer.
Please note: Remote Printing is currently only supported on Windows RDP connections.
Requirements
- A RDP connection to your computer. RDP connections are only supported on certain editions of Windows. Windows Home edition and Macs are currently not supported. To check if you're connecting to your computer using RDP, look at the gray subtext underneath your computer's name in Jump. It should say windows remote desktop.
- Device requirements:
- iOS users: iOS 4.2 running on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch and an AirPrint compatible printer.
- Android users: The latest release of Jump Desktop for Android.
- Mac users: At least Jump Desktop 2.0 for Mac.
Installation
You will first need to install the Jump Desktop Printer driver on your PC or Server. You can download and install the driver using the link below:

Note for Google Chrome users: Your web browser may incorrectly report this as a suspicious file. This is a false positive - we're working with Google to fix this. In the meantime please use another web browser to download the file. Also, the file is completely safe - here are the results of an online scan: Scan results for JumpDesktopInstaller.exe.
Note for advanced users: After you install the printer driver you will not see a new printer in the Printers & Devices section of your PC. The Jump Desktop Printer only appears while you're connected to your computer using Jump Desktop.
Troubleshooting: If you have trouble installing through the automatic installer then try the manual installation package: Jump Desktop Printer Driver Manual Installation Files
Printing Step 1
Connect to your PC using Jump and open up the document you want to print. Print it like you'd normally print a document to a locally attached printer.
Printing Step 2
1) In your application's print dialog select the printer called: Jump Desktop Printer
2) Print.
Mac Users: This is the last step. Next you'll see a printout of the document open up on your Mac's desktop in the Preview app. You can print the document to the local printer using Preview.
Android Users: An XPS file will be transfered to your Android device which you can print out to a local printer using a third party XPS printing app.
iOS Users: Continue to Step #3 below.
Printing Step 3 (iOS users only)
Wait until the print job is transfered and processed by your iPad / iPhone / iPod. This may take some time depending on the contents and size of the print job. Eventually you'll see the Printer Options box:
1) Select a Printer.
2) Tap the Print button to print.
