Introduction
Jump Desktop now includes a watermarking feature that enhances the security and compliance of your remote desktop sessions. This feature allows administrators to embed watermarks directly into the remote desktop window. These watermarks can display connection-specific information such as IP address, email, or user name. This guide will provide an in-depth look into how to make the most out of this watermarking feature.
Prerequisites
- A Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise subscription
Features
WYSIWYG Watermark Editor
Jump Desktop's watermark editor offers a What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get (WYSIWYG) interface, making it extremely user-friendly. This allows you to see a preview of the watermark as you make changes to it.
Watermarking Strategies
The system offers two watermarking strategies:
-
Static: This strategy embeds a non-moving watermark on each remote display. Administrators can choose where to place the watermark within a 9-quadrant grid on the screen.
-
Random: In this strategy, administrators can place a certain number of watermarks randomly on each screen. After a defined time interval, the watermarks will move to random locations on the screen.
Opacity Settings
Administrators have the ability to select the watermark opacity level. This feature helps to make the watermark either more visible or more discreet, based on your requirements.
Custom Text Fields
The watermarking feature allows for the use of custom text fields to display connection-specific information. Below are the available text fields:
- {email}: Displays the email addresses associated with the connection.
- {ip}: Shows the IP addresses of the connection.
- {name}: Shows the full name of the user.
- {firstname}: Displays the user's first name.
- {lastname}: Displays the user's last name.
- {connid}: Shows the connection ID.
- {peerid}: Displays the peer ID of the connection.
- {localuser}: Indicates the local user of the connection.
- {hostname}: Shows the hostname of the machine being accessed.
- {jumphostname}: Displays the Jump Desktop hostname.
- {computerid}: Displays the computer ID of the machine being accessed.
How to Enable Watermarking
Watermarking in Jump Desktop is closely tied to the Connect Settings feature, which lets you apply different configurations to different machines within your team. This means you can set up multiple watermarking configurations specific to individual machines or groups.
- Log in to Jump Desktop Dashboard
- Click your team's name on the left -> Tasks -> Connect Settings
- Edit an existing configuration or make a new one
- Scroll down to find Watermark and select Edit
Conclusion
Watermarking is a vital feature for enhancing the security and compliance of your remote desktop sessions. With Jump Desktop’s easy-to-use watermark editor and flexible settings, setting up watermarks has never been easier.
