If you've updated to Jump Desktop 7.0 for iOS or Jump Desktop 6.0 for Mac, then you might have trouble connecting to computers running an older version of the automatic setup component. To fix this please make sure you upgrade the remote computers to the new Jump Desktop Connect app. Jump Desktop Connect replaces the older automatic setup component and updating to it should fix all connectivity issues with Jump Desktop 7.x for iOS and Jump Desktop 6.x for Mac. To update the remote computer simply visit https://jumpdesktop.com/go on the remote computer and follow the instructions there.
Android users: If you're connecting to your computers using Jump Desktop for Android please do not update to Jump Desktop Connect yet. There is a known issue with the current Android production release - we'll be releasing a new update for Android soon that resolves the issue with Jump Desktop Connect.
A little more information: In Sept 2015 we released Jump Desktop 7.0 for iOS and Jump Desktop 6.0 for Mac with a complete rewrite of how automatic connections work. In addition to this we also released a new automatic setup component called Jump Desktop Connect that replaces the old automatic setup component going forward. Please update your remote PCs and Macs to Jump Desktop Connect ASAP as we've dropped support for the older automatic setup components.
The new Jump Desktop Connect app does everything the old automatic setup component did and has these additional features:
-
You can now give multiple users access to the same computer. Previously you had to share the same account between all users. It's much simpler now - just add each user's account to Jump Desktop Connect on the remote computer. Very useful for tech support or when multiple family members / co-workers need access to the same computer.
-
Truly unlimited number of computers per account. Virtually limitless number of computers can now be managed using the same account (previously we were limited to Google's 10 login limit per account).
-
Connect from places where Google is blocked: Surprisingly Google is blocked in a lot of places: Schools, offices, all of China. Well you don't need to worry about it anymore, because we don't use Google servers!
-
Doesn't require a Google account anymore. You can sign up and login using any old email address.
-
Stronger encryption
-
Auto updates in the background: The latest and greatest version without needing to manually log in and apply updates - unless of-course you enjoy manually updating Jump on all your computers, in which case you can disable automatic updates.
-
And also: Fluid Remote Desktop...

so now I have two programs and all my remote connections to machines in other countries are now broken. without any warning at install time.
not happy!
my dad is now 85 and expecting him to follow the install connect instructions , despite their simplicity, means he has not had my help now ever since i ran the update. you crippled us until i drive down there , a thousand miles, to run the install myself. You should NOT have crippled the old connection method before me being assured I could still connect to do whatever is necessary. same goes with another person I help, a thousand miles in the opposite direction.
sure the new facilities are great, but a crippled system reduces all that greatness to nothing.
@Anthony - I'm sorry you're having trouble connecting. Here's something you can do right now to fix this:
Download the legacy versions of Jump Desktop for Mac or Jump Desktop PC Viewer to temporarily connect to the remote machines and force the upgrade to Jump Desktop Connect. Here are the links:
I hope this helps.
Still no update to the android app? It has been a year and I still can't connect to my Windows boxes that I upgraded. I had no idea it would break my program and now I'm out of luck.
George, the Jump Desktop 7.0 Android beta is live: https://support.jumpdesktop.com/entries/107694613-Jump-Desktop-7-0-Build-100-for-Android-Has-Been-Released .
I purchased this product from the ITunes Mac Store. I have Version 6.0.3 (168) installed on my Macbook pro. I can connect without any problems through both my email or my gmail account to my other MacBook Pro, but I cannot connect to my PC. Getting error code 4.5 (0*5). I have also deactivated the PC's antivirus protection, which has caused problems for me in the past. When I reached out to customer service last night, they told me to:
I'm really sorry we do not offer phone support but I should be able to help you right here.
1. Download this on your Mac: http://jumpdesktop.com/downloads/jdmac and run it. Then click on 'Automatic Setup' and enter your Gmail account details
2. On each of your remote machines visit: http://jumpdesktop.com/go and follow the instructions there.
Once you've completed the instructions in #2 - Jump Desktop on your Mac will automatically display an icon for each remote machine you set up in #2.
Click on the icon to connect
Thanks.
When I try to do #1, I get a note telling me i need a license code (which I didn't get due to buying it through the ITunes store). I have already REPEATEDLY installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, jumpdesktop.com/go, on the PC. The PC is showing "ready for remote access" w/ the correct gmail account for remote access listed.
The PC is showing in my list of computers which my MacBook Pro has accessibilty to......I just don't ever connect. I either get the error code above, or a note saying the PC is not on-line. Please help me!!!!
Hi Cheryl,
1. If you've bought Jump Desktop through the iTunes store, then you don't need to download the trial version. You can skip step #1.
To fix the issue you're hitting, enable Fluid Remote Desktop on your PC. Try the following steps ON your PC:
1. Open up Jump Desktop Connect and click the settings icon on the top right.
2. Then click "Advanced". Disable RDP and VNC by unchecking the RDP and VNC boxes. Enable Fluid Remote Desktop by enabling the "Fluid Remote Desktop" check box.
3. Next, go back to Jump Desktop Mac on your Mac Book Pro. You will see a new, light blue icon for your computer in Jump. Click it to connect.
Let me know if you have trouble with this.
That's a nice workaround from Jump Desktop Support and Fluid will be a much more bandwidth efficient solution once it matures. I have had situations where Fluid will connect where RDP / VNC will not and I have had situations where the opposite is the case. However this is not a "fix" for why we are getting "error code 4.5 (0*5)"
One suggestion might be because Windows RDP / MacOS Screen Sharing rely on the OS built in remote control services. The older version(s) of Jump Desktop Connect checked and or enabled these services when installed. It appears the current version does not.
I have been able to fix the error by enabling remote connections in the OS.
Windows: Control Panel --> System and Security --> System --> Advanced System Settings --> Remote --> Remote Desktop. Select:"Allow Remote connections to this computer"
MacOS: System Preferences --> Sharing. Enable: "Screen Sharing".
Hope this helps.
I followed the directions from Chris, above and it worked! Thanks for circling back to this board to share your success. So often, we find what we want and get on with our busy lives. I appreciate that he decided to give back!
I can not use vnc option
I put a photo of the erection here

Error 10.1330 (0x532)
If your getting this error when using Jump on a Mac to connect to Win Server or PC
Flush the DNS on the Mac worked for us, we had 75% of our Macs with this prob and Flushing the DNS fixed them. :)
Trying to connect from windows 10 to a MacBook Pro without success. The error message displays : Protocol = 11 error = 0.
Both versions of the apps are freshly installed on the laptops, making sure that the versions are each for their respective OS.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
@Dario. Protocol error = 11 means that you need to get Jump Desktop Connect on your Mac permission to record the screen: System Preferences -> Security Privacy -> Privacy -> Screen Recording . While you are there, click the Accessibility row and make sure Jump Desktop Connect has permission for accessibility as well.
@JumpDesktopSupport. If "Protocol error = 11 means that you need to get Jump Desktop Connect on your Mac permission to record the screen" perhaps making the error read as "Jump Desktop needs permission to record the screen" might help people troubleshoot the problem without bothering you 😉
Just a thought.
@Chris - yes that is part of our upcoming 9.6.x release for iOS.
@JumpDesktopSupport. Love-ya-work 👍🏼
Jump desktop error code 4.5 0x5 how to fix all apps are up to date
A couple of months back, I suddenly lost the access to my father's Mac mini 2018, and have since then had to ask him for permission every time he wants me to help him with his PC. I have updated both the OSs and the Jump Desktop and Jump Desktop Connect apps on both our Mac mini 2018 PCs to their latest versions.
My father is 91 years old, and very slow when it comes to PC things. Since he also has got an old Philips TV connected via HDMI to the Mac; that he loses his picture on, and only gets it back whenever I change the resolution on his screen remotely, this has made things very complicated for us.
I've tried as best I can to solve the issue, but since we live far apart, and it seems that I have to travel to- and visit him every time I want to try a new thing to fix the problem, I'll ask here if there is anyone who can come up with any suggestions on how to get access to his MacOS 14 PC again without him having to accept my request to connect every time?
I'm helping several other people on a volunteer basis with both MacOS 14- and Windows 11 PCs, with no issue, I get access straight away into their computers; with no need to ask for any permission at all. I also get access straight away from my iPhone to my Mac mini 2018 PC; whenever my Philips TV is quarrelling in the same way and I'll have to connect to my PC from my iPhone to connect it via AirPlay to my Apple-TV; to get access to the screen via my Apple-TV. This so that I can get access to turn my PC off, so that I can turn my TV and my PC on simultaneously to catch the signal from the PC on my TV, puh! -I guess this is not supposed to be simple?
What I meant to say with this rant, is that the problem has got to be on his end. So how do I fix it?
