Some USB devices can’t be shared with Jump Desktop while another app on your computer is actively using them. The other app holds the device open for its own use, which prevents Jump Desktop from taking over and forwarding the device to the remote machine.
If you tried to share one of these devices and Jump Desktop sent you to this article, follow the steps below for your specific device. After releasing the device from its companion app, return to Jump Desktop and try sharing the device again.
Stream Deck
To share a Stream Deck with Jump Desktop, you must first disable that specific Stream Deck device inside the Stream Deck app. This setting only disables the selected device — any other Stream Deck devices you have connected will continue to work normally in the Stream Deck app.
- Install or update to Stream Deck software 7.1 or later.
- Open the Stream Deck app.
- Go to Preferences.
- Select Devices.
- In the device list, select the specific Stream Deck you want to share with Jump Desktop.
- Set Enabled to No for that device.
Once the device is disabled in the Stream Deck app, Jump Desktop can take over the device and forward it to the remote machine.
Elgato added per-device enable/disable controls in Stream Deck 7.1 under Preferences > Devices > Enabled (Yes/No). Earlier versions of the Stream Deck app don’t expose this control, so an update to 7.1 or later is required.
