USB redirection lets you share USB devices connected to your computer with the remote machine during a Fluid Remote Desktop session. To keep remote computers secure, USB redirection is turned off by default and must be enabled on the remote computer (the host) before devices can be shared.
If Jump Desktop sent you to this article, USB redirection is currently turned off on the computer you're connected to. How you enable it depends on how Jump Desktop Connect is set up on that computer.
Standard installs
On a standard installation, USB redirection is turned off by default and can be enabled directly on the host computer:
- On the host computer, open Jump Desktop Connect.
- Open Settings.
- Go to the Advanced tab.
- Under Fluid Remote Desktop, check Enable USB redirection.
Then reconnect to the host from Jump Desktop. Your USB devices will appear in the Devices menu, ready to share.
Teams Enterprise: computers managed with Connect Settings
Teams on the Enterprise plan can use Connect Settings to centrally enforce settings on their machines. When a Connect Settings configuration is assigned to the host, its settings are locked down — the Settings window on the host shows Settings are managed by your team's administrator, USB redirection is disabled by default, and it can't be enabled on the computer itself.
A team Administrator needs to enable it in the configuration assigned to the machine:
- Go to jumpdesktop.com and click Sign in.
- Click your team's name in the left-hand sidebar to open the team's overview page.
- In the Tasks section, click Connect Settings.
- Open the configuration assigned to the machine.
- Under USB Settings, turn on USB Device Redirection and save.
The change is applied to the assigned machines automatically. Reconnect to the host and your USB devices will appear in the Devices menu. See Manage Connect Settings for more about creating and assigning configurations.
Still showing as unavailable?
If you've enabled USB redirection and the Devices menu still shows it as unavailable after reconnecting, please contact our support team and we'll help you get it working.
