USB redirection lets you share USB devices connected to your computer with the remote machine during a Fluid Remote Desktop session. For it to work, the remote computer (the host) needs a version of Jump Desktop Connect that supports USB redirection, with its USB redirection components installed and working.
If Jump Desktop sent you to this article, the Devices menu is showing USB redirection as unavailable because the host can't offer it right now. This is usually one of the causes below — work through them in order.
If the message says USB redirection is turned off on the host instead, see USB redirection is turned off on the host.
Update Jump Desktop Connect on the host
Older versions of Jump Desktop Connect don't support USB redirection. On the host computer, install the latest version of Jump Desktop Connect — see Download Jump Desktop Connect. It's also a good idea to update the Jump Desktop app on the computer you're connecting from.
Reinstall Jump Desktop Connect to repair the USB driver
USB redirection relies on a driver that is installed along with Jump Desktop Connect on the host. If Jump Desktop reports that the required driver is not installed or is disabled, reinstalling the latest version of Jump Desktop Connect on the host repairs it:
- On the host computer, download the latest installer — see Download Jump Desktop Connect.
- Run the installer over the existing installation.
- Restart the host computer if the installer asks you to.
Then reconnect to the host from Jump Desktop and check the Devices menu again.
Check the connection type
USB redirection is available in Fluid Remote Desktop sessions. If you're connecting to the host using a different protocol (such as RDP or VNC), USB redirection won't be offered. Connect to the host using Fluid Remote Desktop and check the Devices menu again.
