Is Fluid always going to need a console session to work?

Is there any way to run the desktop app as a service? It'd be nice to have it launch automatically in the background when I boot the machine so I don't have to log in with RDP, launch the app, and then log in with fluid. Thanks!

@Gollapudi Thanks for reporting this. Can you please send us the Jump Desktop Connect logs? Open up Jump Desktop Connect and then click the settings icon on the top right. Then click Diagnostics -> Diagnostic Logs. Then attach the "JumpConnectDiagLogs.zip" to an email to support@jumpdesktop.com with what you just told us. We'll take a look.

I think I have all the right versions to have this work.  However, when connecting from Mac to Windows 8.1, the fluid icon shows, but it shows a blank screen.  I know this is beta ... so hopefully the feedback is helpful.

@Chris, we already submitted JD 6.0 to Apple on Sept 5th. Apple is still reviewing the update. We'll release is as soon as Apple is done.

What Port does Fluid use? How do can I set up a connection through Port-Forwarding?

@ch.ka: We've had a lot of interest for providing a cloudless version of Fluid and this is on our radar. I'm not sure if this is going to make it into 2.0, but this is definitely one of the things we plan to implement in the short to medium term. RemoteFX support for RDP: This is coming too - again, I unfortunately don't have a timeline, but it is planned and will be added.

@christopher: Fluid 2.0 will support file transfer via the clipboard. We just couldn't fit that many things into the first release of Fluid. That being said - you can still use VNC or RDP with Jump Desktop Connect: Open up Jump Desktop Connect and click the settings icons. Then click 'Advanced' and turn on RDP or VNC. Make sure you have RDP / VNC configured on the computer.

@jason: Internal work has started on Fluid 2.0. We don't have a public beta yet though. If you're interested shoot us an email: support@jumpdesktop.com

@chris: Alt+Tab works with Fluid when connecting to Windows (or even Macs). This is not a known issue. Can you please shoot us an email: support@jumpdesktop.com . Let us know which version of Windows you're connecting to and which device (iOS/Android/Mac/Windows), you're connecting FROM.

This looks great ... would love to try it out. However I'm still on Jump Desktop 5.0.2 for mac as that's the one in the Apple Store. How do we go about getting onto version 6 please?

LOL, you should clarify your clipboard sharing statement then, because copying files to the clipboard is a very common thing. I hope it comes soon, because the lack of common features we use to have with VNC is really killing me. I read in another post by support that VNC is supposed to still be working (although manually installed and activated), but I was unable to get jump to show an icon for it. I feel like my hands are tied behind my back compared to what we used to have.

File Sharing via clipboard isn't supported at the moment, however we're actively working on this for Fluid 2.0.

    @Jump Desktop Support:

At the beginning of this thread it states: "Clipboard Sharing: Copy/paste stuff from/to the local system."

I am unable to get this to work with files (it does work with copied text). I have made sure both ends are running the latest version, and I have also tried enabling "Windows Shortcuts" just in case that made a difference (but it does not). Running Windows 10 on both ends.

How do I get this to work?

It seems unlikely now, however, is there any chance that a Wake-on-LAN feature might be coming anytime soon? And I'd like to check out the beta, I'll shoot support an email to that effect.

@Sebastian: Fluid doesn't open up any listening ports at the moment. You can't connect to it using a manual connection via an IP address - instead, you'll have to make sure Jump Desktop Connect is running on the remote machine and you're logged into your Jump Desktop account: https://jumpdesktop.com/go . Also - Fluid will automatically find it's way through your router - you don't need to configure additional networking. If you have trouble connecting over Fluid please let us know.

Turned fluid on because for some reason RDP is not available.  Works great.  Would love to see network sharing in the future as well.

Maybe you guys could release a display driver for windows that has the resolutions for common tablets?

I just used the generic VGA adapter with the fluid device (my ipad pro) as the third display and used the max resolution and it was close (2560x1536) but 2880x1800 wasn't available as a mode...  its better than nothing, but a new device driver with that mode available would be a good start, right?

Fluid currently will not allow you to login with user accounts that don't have a password set - this is a security measure. We're not going to change that, though we will add device-specific logins in the near future (i..e you'll be able to log in without a password once you pair a device with Fluid).

In the meantime, here are a couple of options to try out:

    1. Add a password to your existing user account. If you don't want Windows to prompt you for a password after startup, you can always turn on automatic logons in Windows 10
    2. Alternatively, you can also create a new Windows user with a password and use that to log into Fluid.

Just an update. We're starting public beta testing of Jump Desktop Connect 5.0 which adds support for Fluid for Mac. Read the announcement here: https://support.jumpdesktop.com/entries/109741706-Jump-Desktop-Connect-5-0-Beta-with-support-for-Mac-Fluid

@Support yeah that would likely work if you can get it to work for a Mac connecting to a PC. The RDP network share works great since I can store all my utilities and scripts in my share so I don't have to copy everything to the remote machines. But a copy/paste , drag/drop, or something along those lines would be a great start.

@Rob: We just released Jump Desktop PC Viewer 7.0.3 Beta that fixes the issue you're hitting. Can you please try downloading it from here: https://jumpdesktop.com/downloads/jdwin

@Matt: We're planning on expanding clipboard support in Fluid so that you can drag and drop files to/from the remote machine. Would this work for you?

@MichaelSzebenyi Jump Desktop Connect runs as a service by default and you should be able to log in via Fluid and RDP after a fresh boot when no users are logged in. If Fluid isn't working after boot let us know by emailing support@jumpdesktop.com and let them know which version of Windows you're using.
